Who we are

In 1991 Westminster Digital's parent company, CCT Productions became the first company to televise Parliament for public broadcast. In 1998, CCT Productions set up Westminster Digital with the sole intention of providing internet and intranet broadcasting services, specializing in political and government content.

In 1999, Westminster Digital successfully broadcast the Prime Minister live on Number 10 Downing Street's website. There rapidly followed a series of major live webcasts, including the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, the Time Warner / AOL merger, the weekly broadcast of PMQs, and numerous select committees.

In the years that followed, Westminster Digital became a major force behind government webcasting initiatives, with clients that include The Office of the e-Envoy, Number 10 Downing Street, DEFRA, SEAC, DTI, COI, The Treasury Office and others. Corporate and media clients include The Economist, NASDAQ, GSK, Pfizer, William Hill, Ladbrokes, Granada Media, The FT, and the BBC.

In 2003, Westminster Digital was contracted to design, build and operate Parliament's own dedicated webcasting site, www.parliamentlive.tv. Up to 18 live channels are broadcast on a daily basis, with more then 30,000 viewers accessing the site and 200GB of data transferred. The project includes automated encoding, live captions, video and audio search, sophisticated Content Management, hosting and security. Westminster Digital also broadcasts video to 3,500 computers within the Parliament secure network using Multicasting. This is by far the most comprehensive webcasting initiative in existence on the internet today.
